DG/CEO of NIMC Receives Prestigious Science Association Fellowship

Zaria, Nigeria – In a ceremony held at Ahmadu Bello University on Monday, 3rd July, 2023, the Director-General/CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr Aliyu A Aziz, was honored with the Fellow of The Science Association of Nigeria (FSAN) award. This esteemed recognition was bestowed upon Engr Aliyu A Aziz by The Science Association Of Nigeria in appreciation of his exceptional contributions to science and national development.

Engr Aliyu A Aziz’s outstanding accomplishments in the field of science and his efforts to advance the socio-economic development of Nigeria were acknowledged by the Science Association of Nigeria (SAN) during its 55th Annual Conference. The conference brought together eminent professionals from various fields who have made substantial contributions to the advancement of science in Nigeria.

Joining Engr Aliyu A Aziz as recipients of the prestigious SAN fellowship were esteemed individuals including Prof. Kabiru Bala, the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University; Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, the Executive Vice-Chairman of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NUC); Prof. Hussaini Ibrahim Doko, the Director-General of the Raw Materials Research Development Council (RMRDC); and Prof. Ishaya Haruna Nock, the Vice-Chancellor of Nok University.

The list of distinguished professionals awarded the Fellow of the Science Association of Nigeria (SAN) also included Engr. Ishaq D. Mohammed, Director Federal Roads Development Project, Federal Ministry of Works; Prof. Abiodun Ayodele, Department of Botany, University of Ibadan; Prof. Ibrahim Oladosu, Department of Chemistry, University of Ibadan; and Prof. F.O. Nwosu from the Department of Chemistry, University of Ilorin. Dr. Hassan Adeyemi Sanuth from the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency and Dr. Oyeyemi A. Dada from the Department of Crop Protection and Environmental Biology, University of Ibadan were also recognized.

In addition to the fellowship awards, the Science Association of Nigeria (SAN) presented honorary awards to two individuals. Alhaji Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina, the Founder/Chairman of AZMAN Group of Companies, was recognized for his remarkable dedication to the development of the Nigerian economy. Hajiya Habiba Mohammed, the Co-Director of the Centre for Girls Education, was honored for her significant contributions to girl child education.

Prof. Hamza Abba, the National President of SAN, presented the awards to the deserving recipients, emphasizing that the nominations were carefully considered and approved by the SAN Council.

The Fellow of The Science Association of Nigeria (FSAN) award bestowed upon Engr Aliyu A Aziz underscores his exceptional accomplishments and the profound impact of his work in science and development. His contributions and dedication to the nation continue to inspire others in their pursuit of scientific excellence and the betterment of Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.
