Echocho’s Visit To Governor Yahaya Bello; How not to be Professionals

In the privacy of a meeting, stakeholders can do anything to prove a point, and the case of Echocho’s genuflecting to Governor Yahaya Bello isn’t an exception. We all have our different ways of expressing emotions, however, the shame is actually on those around the Governor who abused the principle of privacy to make public a private visit between a Governor and his senator. Whoever that released that video has exposed the working mechanisms of the governor’s media handlers as inept and deficient in ethical intelligence. You don’t make public such an encounter. Echocho’s visit to GYB wasn’t an official visit but a very private call that should ordinarily end between the two leaders.Being finger itchy can actually make people act very non-professionally.

The purpose of releasing that poorly recorded video was to embarrass the senator in the eyes of his people. I am very sure, Governor Yahaya Bello will be embarrassed that his private time with his senator was leaked to the public. It shows the man is surrounded by some persons who have no regard for his office. The governor is a very important leader whose private life is jealously guarded and protected. For such an innocuous moment to be made public shows the sinister motive of some persons.

If you know Echocho very well, you will understand a man that is infectiously down to earth. His humility knows no bounds, he goes down on all four to either old or young. He once shocked me in his house when together with Igala gworo crooner Alh Ayofa Omonu, the man went submissively low to greet us. It took forever for this accomplished banker, first-class economist, and distinguished senator to rise from his lowered posture.

Again, were I Echocho, I will do more in appreciation for Governor Yahaya Bello. For , why will I not submit myself in humble submission to a man who lifted me from the doldrum after what my kinsmen did to me when they lured me to run as Governor? Senator Isah Jibrin Echocho was completely wrecked, his business collapsed and politically decapitated by people he shared tribal and religious affinity with. They left him badly bruised and shattered until Yahaya Bello came to his rescue and gave him another wing to fly. Bello saved Echocho and it is just naturally right for Echocho to see Bello in the fluorescent of gratitude. Just recently, all the senators in Kogi failed to return as senators but Echocho. The governor gave him all the political lifelines to return as 2nd term senator!

It’s okay to be alarmed seeing Echocho in a posture you feel isn’t dignifying but I’m sure the man is sufficiently equipped to have a reason why he did what he did- after all, it is said that, he who wears the shoe knows where it pinches. Let Echocho breathe, we all have our different idiosyncrasies.
