NCC Maintains Deadline: Non-Compliant Subscribers to Face Disconnection Over NIM-SIM Linkage
In a firm stance, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has upheld its decision to enforce the deadline barring owners of more than four SIM cards if their registration data fails to align with their National Identity Number (NIN) data.
The Commission’s decision aims to streamline the SIM ownership database, thwarting criminal activities facilitated by unlinked SIM cards. Instances of individuals possessing thousands of unverified SIMs underscore the urgency of the directive.
Moreover, the NCC has extended the deadline for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to verify NINs till July 31st, 2024, while considering an online application solution for subscribers to update records affected by biometric mismatches.
