USAID Visits Bauchi State Commissioner of Education to Discuss Education Assistance Resource

On Thursday, April 6th, 2023, a team of representatives from theĀ USAID/LEARN to Read – a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) , led by Regional Adviser Dr. Bilyaminu Bello Inuwa, paid a courtesy visit to Bauchi State’s Honorable Commissioner of Education in her office.

During the visit, Dr. Bilyaminu briefed the Commissioner on the progress of the State Education Account Committee, stating that the committee had completed data collection, data entry, and data validation. He promised to submit the final report of their findings on the state Education account soon.

LEARN to Read, a program aimed at improving education in Nigeria, will be implemented in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education and its agencies, as well as some selected States, including Bauchi and Sokoto, designated as legacy states.

The Commissioner of Education, Dr. Jamila Dahiru, expressed her appreciation for the visit and assured Dr. Bilyaminu of her commitment to working closely with USAID to improve education in the state. She also thanked USAID for its continued support towards uplifting education in Bauchi State.

As a show of gratitude for his outstanding performance, the Commissioner handed an award of excellence to Alhaji Abdullahi Umar (Sarkin Yamma) after the meeting.

The visit highlighted the importance of partnerships and collaborations in improving education in Nigeria, and USAID’s commitment to providing assistance resources to achieve this goal
