Nigeria’s apex bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria has announced the withdrawal of N200
, N500 and N1000 notes commencing with immediate effect, and that they would be replaced with newer notes from December 15 this year.
In a release by the CBN, Godwin Emefiele said the old notes would cease to be legal tender come January 31, 2023. This action has been backed by the decision of the Federal Executive Council.
